All of us have expectations…of the people around us, our environment, our life, our world…and somehow, we are almost always disappointed by what comes our way…
My dad always told me, “You have the right to ask, and let me have the right to say NO”.. So, before I ask something off someone, I would have a mental dialog of what’s coming my way and be prepared for the worst, but, somehow, sometimes I am disappointed by what comes my way..
I am in the teaching profession, and was discussing ‘conflicts’ yesterday, and we were discussing this term – ‘Expectations’!!!
Why do we always expect people to be there for us? Why do we expect that people will oblige? Why do we expect people to be nice to us? Why do we expect people to be happy for us?
Do we go by, “We have the right to expect, and people have the right to let us down!!”

Yep! we do have the right to expect. Its jus human and its also human to make choice - to let us down or to oblige!
We expect, they let us down.
They expect, we let them down.
All in the great circle of life.
*shrug*
what happened all of a sudden?
one thing i've learnt.. never expect too much off ppl.. it only raises your hopes for an eventual let down. thats human nature, i guess.
they cant always be there.. no matter what. even if they want to.. its all circumstantial...
so relax.. take a deep breath.. smile..
and remember.. u'l always be able to find that stranger to talk to out here in the blog world.. its probably easier that way too....
u teach psychology?
'Why do we always expect people to be there for us? Why do we expect that people will oblige? Why do we expect people to be nice to us?'
i think ur talkin frm female point of view. i dont think guys expect all the above. atleast not me
@GS& unforgiven - u r absolutely rite!! great circle of life it is..
@zoxcleb - nothing happened, i was just discussing these points in class and I got too many varied answers, so, i as wondering what all of you might have to say on it..
& thanks..i agree that sometimes it is a lot easier to 'talk' to a blogger than a friend (but, this was not one of those times, not to worry :DD)
@ramu - i have done a masters in counseling, so, psycology is a key area for me..i teach psychology irrespective of what subject I am talking abt.. :p
guys/girls - hmmm... the other 3 guys here may be able to throw more light on that...
i dotn think its a guy/girls issue.. its just perspective...
am defenitely not male schauvinist. i think i need to elaborate a little to prove on what context i said.
whenever i go across a grls college my fav time pass is not gazing but checking how many grls am able to spot holding hands, while crossing road in groups. hope u both agree that guys dont do this. observing is a part of my profession so i can go ahead with many more similar egs.
when i had to go across a surgery it took 2 days for me to start walking. doc said grls r mentally strong in this case and they start walking within 24 hrs after the same surgery. now i think i sh'd have asked him y u diffrenciate grls/guys lol. its scientifically proved attitude nature and qualities do differ between guys and grls.
i think we r straying frm the actual topic. am not debating on this ne more
@ramu - u've brought out a whole new perspective into this guys/gals thing..
wat do u mean - "its scientifically proved attitude nature and qualities do differ between guys and grls." - can we find some more info on it?
U said "observing is a part of my profession " - what do u do? u've got me curious!!
idli dosa chapati dal r new to western ppl. so r they new
mostly i pass by stella maris around 2pm ie. when college gets over and i've noticed that max no of grls hold hands while crossing roads(max in the sense its 90%). especially when they r stuck inbetween. but u cant point out 1 single guy doing this. if u deny this fact i can very well prove it. if u agree then it means u agree that male and female species differ. quite sometime b4 a lady psychiatrist was on air telling y male species always calm, patient, always good and y female species do too much of bla bla bla, expect to be appreciated and all that lol. its because of this content found in excess and that content less in body and something something. i dont remember a bit of it. she was even giving technical explanations on y males dont let out emotions and y females do.
