New Year

Come Mid Dec, and we sart planning for New Years eve - what to do? where to go? how to go? How much would it cost? Can I make it? Whom to go with?! Once these decisions are made, the next series - new year resolutions - should i make one? should i have a standby resolution? anyway I dont follow them, then, whats the freaking point in wondering abt it?

Amidst all of the above, we bring in the new year with a lot of hope for happiness, success, uncertainity and yearn for something better all the time..

I brought in the new year with a holiday...I was skeptical about the plan right from the beginning -but my dear friends booked my tickets and made my travel plans anyway..I am glad that I have such good friends!!!

We went to North Kerala - claim to fame for Bekal is the sad song in the movie Bombay was shot there...it is a wonderul site..its this huge fort covered 3/4ths by water (I simply love the ocean!!)We spent a better part of our day there..watched the last sunset of 2005 in absolute quiet..and then got back to our hotel for an evil evening(dont let imagination get the better of you..)..The 5 of us sitting there playing cards and counting down for 12 - it was a funny sight - none of our watches were synchronised - so, we shout out aloud 'Happy New Year' 5 times!! and then the networks were jammed - but, family got through!! (Thats the best, aint it?)

Anyway, New Years day 1 - we went on a backwater ride in a fisherman's boat - the 2 hour ride was the most blissfull ride ever!!! Postcard scenes all around - just us and the lovely backwaters...I must say at this point that Everyman is the most brilliant company (the others were good company too, but they would agree with this statement)'coz he was our jukebox - he just kept singing..he had a bad throat but he just cdnt stop himself i guess..and he sang very apt numbers..the 3 guys were busy with their cameras and we 2 dudettes were busy with bliss!! There was one point when the backwaters met the ocean and we landed on this beach - white sand, pure water,quiet..and we were wondering, who needs Mauritius/Seyshells when Kerala is there..What more can I say, but that it was an experience of a lifetime...

New Years day 2 - was in Blore - my hometown..it was like a homecoming for me...my folks drove down from chennai just to pick me up..and my cousins/relatives spent all their waking time pampering me with home food..

New Years Day 3 - Day 9 - Am at home!!!

I couldnt have asked for a better start for this new year..I really hope all goes well..

And my friends - u guys r the best! We did miss R very much!! Heres wishing that everyone has a very content and soul satisfying new year! Happy 2006!!!

Cheers

Everyman's company is actually not everyman's company... :-) I did enjoy a party or two with him and I know how much fun he is to spend time with! :-)

By the way, you had a most amazing time for the New Year! :-)
